Compassion Camp 2026 kicks off on Sunday afternoon, 7/26, and continues Monday, 7/27-Wednesday, 7/29, 8:30am-1pm at Trinity Episcopal Church (104 Walnut Hollow Road).
Compassion Camp is for campers ages rising kindergarteners-13 and junior counselors 14-18 to enjoy fun, worship, and the grace of God together! Partnering with St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Forest and the Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Lynchburg, we're excited to be back for another year!

Learning God’s way of compassion and love
+ fun activities
+ Jesus & justice lens

All volunteers will have completed Safe Church, Safe Communities training.

Registration is here on Eventbrite!
We are asking for a registration donation of $10 per kid this year or $20 per family if you are registering multiple kids. This can be paid through Eventbrite's secure processing.
We are doing this to make the most of limited space; we have 30 spots, and we've had people register and not show, so we want to make sure we don't have to turn anyone away! The kids will pick a local nonprofit during the week to donate all donation fees collected as part of registration. See you there!
Frequently asked questions
I'm a little skeptical of VBS--what's the vibe here?
We understand VBS can be a loaded term for some folks. Rest assured our VBS alternative will never include altar calls, salvation pressure, or any fire-and-brimstone talk. We're instead focused on God's love, promises and how that relates to our compassion in action to ourselves, each other and the world.
Do we have to go Trinity, St. Stephen's, or UUCL to send kids there?
No, many campers come from other churches, found us from friends or on flyers--however this came to you, you're invited + we'll help the kid in your life feel at home! If you have any questions about how we talk & teach about the goodness of God, please be in touch at info@trinitylynchburg.com
How do you support different kids' needs, abilities, and identities?
As a small camp we can tweak our program to support a variety of needs & experiences. We've had campers/junior counselors with neurodivergence and physical disabilities, who use specific names and pronouns, + with a variety of family structures, & have tailored the experience to support them!
How should I let you know about a support need?
The best thing to do is to register early and tell us about the kid in your life and their specifics and we can plan or tell you about specific inclusion practices (eg. our quiet room)! Reach out to us at info@trinitylynchburg.com or make a note in the registration form.
This sounds rad and I want to help make it happen--can I help?
Yes! You can donate at this link, you can donate food or supplies, + if you would like to volunteer in person, we need to know you first & have you do a background check + get certified with our Safe Churches, Safe Communities training.
What are some specific volunteer needs you have this year?
Kitchen support and outdoor games enthusiasts!
Our summer plans changed, can we get a refund?
Your registration donation will be pooled with the rest of the donations for the kids to donate to our partner non-profits. There is a note about refund possibilities on Eventbrite, but I forgot to change before publishing, my mistake. Please let us know if you can't make it, so we can open a spot.
