Leadership
Trinity Episcopal Church values faithfulness to the Gospel, joy, and accountability in its leadership. As a parish in the Diocese of Southwestern Virginia, we participate in regional mission and the life of the diocese, as guided by our bishop. As Trinity parish, we elect members to the vestry, our church board, to guide and support the ministries of the parish. Trinity is an affirming church, with LGBTQIA+ members in leadership, both lay and ordained.
Trinity's Vestry:
Vestry members are elected at the annual parish meeting by the congregation
Our 2026 vestry is Bobbi Johnson, Carolyn Ludwig, Doug Townshend, Erika Fletcher, Gareth Kerlin, with Elizabeth Harding serving as our treasurer.

You can read our vestry minutes on Google Drive.

The Rev. Gail Goldsmith, rector
The Rev. Gail Goldsmith loves parish ministry because the church is a place of rest to hear Jesus' love for you and the church is our best practice for the Kingdom of God.
Gail is a SEEDS Fellow through Faith + Lead at Luther Seminary. She currently serves on the Transition Committee for newly elected bishop, the Disciplinary Board, and Southwestern Virginia Homes. She also served as president of the Standing Committee for the Diocese of Southwestern Virginia for 2 terms.
Gail earned her M. Div at University of Chicago Divinity School and Bexley Seabury, and served as curate + college minister at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Auburn, AL.

In her free time, she enjoys powerlifting, hiking, kayaking, and reading. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, she's passionate about bridging the queer and Christian communities--there are queer people in Scripture and all through out the church's, past, present, and future.

You can call her Gail, Rev. Gail if you prefer, but more importantly: call her for pastoral care, to talk ideas for Trinity’s ministries, to ask whatever question is on your heart and to share how God is moving in your life.
